Hi, I applied to Yale, unfortunately, I submitted the Common Application and supplement online a few hours late...however, a few hours later the status showed as Downloaded...so I assumed they got it and the application was accepted (boy was I relieved)

Now what worries me, is I never received any email confirmation from them, that my application has been received and my profile opened (as I did from other colleges I applied to)...so in your experience, should I have received an email already...or is it normal that it takes some time (it's an automatic process so I wouldn't think it would take so much time)..or do they not send such acknowledgment emails...or was my application downloaded and then rejected because I didn't make the deadline (which makes no sense to me that they would bother downloading it past the deadline just to reject it)?

Your opinion is most welcome.

Thanks :)

P.S. I'm in the same situation with Stanford...except that the application was submitted on time, the supplement was a few hours late (yes I know, very irresponsible of me :) :(

Probably yes(big probably), but it may count as a strike against you. It should serve as a lesson. You should never be foolish and wait until the last minute; things happen(such as the common app server being slow etc). Even those last few hours the application was late may get you a rejection.

The one thing you should not do, is bring this to their attention. Chances are they won't notice the timestamp(unless they're looking for it), so don't communicate the lateness to them.

In the future, be responsible and submit your apps a couple days ahead of time.

Did you receive an auto-confirmation email from common application? I'm sure with the extremely large volume of documents they are processing currently, they won't be able to notify everybody until late in January. So don't sweat.

On the yale sight it said something about keeping it open until Jan 3 because they knew there was a lot of traffic on common app. So you should be fine.
