I am just finishing up my supplement, but it is 12:12 January 2nd. Is there any way that Columbia will still accept my application if it is an hour late?

You never know.

The better question is why did you wait until the very last minute to submit something so important? The Common App has been available since August 1st!!! What if the server had crashed…which happens.

Did you get all of your other applications in on time?

Fortunately, yes. I am a procrastinator by nature and obviously did not consider the amount of time it would truly take to complete the supplemental essays! I’m still freaking out!! Haha. I guess I’ll have to learn sometime…

Same here. Im not done with the supplement yet!! However, i have already submitted my app(it was last minute too)… Any chance that they will still accept my application?? Then only i will proceed with the payment.

Finished my supplement like 30 minutes ago, however I can’t guarentee the quality. Yeahhh, I feel like an idiot for waiting.
I submitted my app around two months ago, so maybe that will help? But I’m not sure about your situation @slashftw. Sorry :(

Ah same here! I submitted the app on time but only after I turned in my supplement did I realize that Columbia went by Eastern Time…so my supplement was one hour late. I feel like such an idiot now. :[

@princesssparkle Where I live goes by EST so I can’t even use that as an excuse! Although I did consider it. Haha. So ready to be done with this whole applying to college thing…

Ugh same exact situation. Actually, even worse, because I accidentally submitted all my SAT and SATII subject test scores to all the colleges I applied too… which includes atrocious subject tests that don’t match the rest of my application. We’ll just have to see whether Columbia is forgiving of screw-ups

Should we contact the admissions office or just do nothing?

Actually, you don’t need to do anything =D

Columbia extended their application deadline to Jan. 3rd, I got an email about this and I’m sure you can find the news somewhere on the web.

I also got my score reports canceled, so double win ^^

Ah yes!! :D

But I did the same thing for Yale…
Oh well, one is better than none.

Armagnac, where are you getting this information? The official website says nothing other than the office is closed until the 3rd. When they extended the deadlines for ED kids, there was a notice on the website.

@Armaganc I completely understand the bad subject test thing. I sent my scores before I even took them… and let’s just say my French with Listening was so embarrassing. I thought I was good at French, but apparently I know nothing. Absolutely nothing.

And yay! Good news and a little bit of stress relief. I’ll be checking my email in like 30 seconds.

Did anyone else get the e-mail? I didn’t

@neiro, from an email

If you want me to forward this to you as reassurance, pm me with your email address.

Maybe I was left out for some reason… Thanks a bunch, Armagnac!

Weird, but alright. Ahah. Man, that email is nicer than the 8-paragraph monster I got from NYU just for having the college on my common app list.

I just submitted my Bates Supp (deadline was Jan 1) it let me submit and my app was submitted two months ago. I think as long as your App is already on file, you can submit if it’s only a day late. They won’t process it for another few weeks.

Every season, there are hundreds of these posts. “Freaking out, my supplement is late” “OMG I can’t get in touch with my guid counselor to make sure she sent her docs in” “I’m doomed, my computer crashed and I sent my stuff in 4 minutes after midnight”

If you do a quick read, practically every forum has posts like this. They are like dandelioins.

Here you go: the colleges are ecstatic that you’ve applied. They WANT to evaluate you and actually, find a way to admit you. If anything is missing (or your profile hasn’t been updated), don’t worry because – as they are logical people – they will contact you to get any missing docs. Can you imagine that!

People – please chill. I interview 10-15 kids a year for my HYP. The info I’m sent also has the date they applied. It seems every year one or two of them have some post-Jan 01 date. Doesn’t affect them. You should relax too.
