Late auditions/rolling admissions

I know there was a thread before about schools that are rolling admissions & where you can apply and audition later for their MT programs…I wondered what some of those schools are? We know a friend who might be in a pickle soon and needs to add a school or two…as it isn’t going that great . She has one yes but it’s not a school she likes that much. Just wondering if she could apply anywhere last minute is it even possible? Is that even a good idea? I guess it would be ok if it’s a school that she just didn’t know about and is doable geographically etc. …thoughts? Has anyone done this late in season?

At this time last year, my daughter had not auditioned nor even had applied to the school she’s at now.

Off the top of my head, here are schools who have late auditions:

Northern Kentucky
Western Carolina
Viterbo
Western Illinois University
Southern Illinois University
Rockford University
Nebraska Wesleyan

UArts has late auditions, I believe there’s even one in early April! And I think so does Point Park?

UAB - The University of Alabama at Birmingham - has a mid-April audition date. It’s a BFA.

And it’s very good ^^^^^

Oakland University in Rochester, MI has 2 more March audition dates.

It’s too late for Point Park. The last audition day was Feb 27th.

Adding to the list:

Memphis (March 19)
Nebraska Wesleyan
Northern Kentucky
Oakland (MI)
Rockford University
Sam Houston State (April 8)
Southern Illinois University
Western Carolina
Western Illinois University
Western Michigan (March 18)
UAB
UArts
Viterbo

Other schools that may accept late video auditions (some of the schools noted above may also accept late video submissions):

Central Washington
Lindenwood
Santa Fe U Art & Design
South Dakota
Tampa

There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing “late” auditions. Many times students are very impressed with programs that they discover late in the process and find some great fits.

Wow thanks all! I will pass on these suggestions. I know the person is nervous about auditioning late thinking that they won’t have a good shot. I told them that’s not the case.

I think Utah goes until March 15 and you can submit a video.

Acceptd says that Central Washington’s MT applications are closed now. Originally the deadline was March 1, but they ended up saying to submit our videos by January 1. (That made the end of December really stressful…)

Temple BFA MT!

@mtmcmt I would definitely check out Utah’s program. Lots of positive things happening there. And, I think you can get in-state tuition there easily. It’s very affordable. Utah’s dance program is top-notch too so that’s a nice extra.

@theaterwork Columbia (Chicago) has BA & Audition BFA. Remaining audition dates: Sat, March 12 & Fri, April 1. Great theater city and a great relationship with Second City!

Is ok city still auditioning? Get accepted seems to indicate yes.

OCU’s last on campus auditions are this weekend (March 4 and 5). Recorded auditions are accepted until April 15th according to the website. But those instructions are for all music majors, not just MT. The dance school has their spring audition on April 2nd. If you are a strong dancer, I would encourage you to consider this option. Dance school majors are performing all over, including Broadway and have a lot of success. They do get to take some voice and acting as part of their degree program.

Marymount Manhattan, Rider, Muhlenberg, Viterbo, Montclair State, and the Hartt School (U of Hartford) are also rolling.

Bowling Green State University (Ohio) has one final audition day on April 6. They offer a BAC-(Bachelor of Arts - in Communication) with a Musical Theatre Concentration. Extremely affordable for Ohio instate residents, still very reasonable for OOS students, with good merit aid offered. Very nice campus & theatre facilities with opportunities to double major, minor or study abroad as a MT student.
