Late classes?

Hi there, I'm trying to make my schedule for my freshman year and I can either have a class at 9 in the morning TRF or a class at 6-8 on tuesday. Which would you prefer? Are late classes that bad? I'm not a morning person but kinda want my evenings free.

I prefer the morning class to get it over with. The late ones (for me) tend to loom over your head all day. It depends what you favor. Only you can really decide which is betterfor you.

I had to make the same choice, and went for the later class. But then, I’m not a morning person at all… I don’t start to make sense until at least noon.

I’m more of a night person, so I prefer to take the later classes so I can sleep in. It works better for my schedule to take late classes because then I have more free time during the day for equestrian team practices, workouts, and riding my own horse…then there other people that put all their classes in the morning so they can be done and have the rest of the day free. It really just depends on you personally and what works better for what other things you’re going to be doing.

I would take the morning class. Since you will still be on high school time 9 am is not so early, especially if you live on campus. Evening classes get in the way of dinner, studying, socializing, and club meetings. Also, your evening class is a block class so all your assignments are due once a week. If you procrastinate, you will be miserable doing the work for 2 class meetings the night before, which is why I would not suggest a block class for a first semester freshman.

I would go for the morning one for sure unless its an awesome class that’s hard to get into and you really love the subject.

There are so many things you will miss that start around 6 - 8 that you can’t go to because of that class. Club meetings, guest speakers, ect. 9 am isnt that bad anyway. Having to stay in a class until its dark really sucks.

If you want your evenings free then its a no-brainer.

Personally I’ve had my fair share of later classes simply because it allowed me to work more hours since my place of work is open from 9-6. Also, I have always done better in later classes than in morning ones, I think it is because I am more awake and interested in what’s going on. Final pro for me was the fact that I could get there an hour or two earlier to study for a test or do homework. It’s up to you and your personal situation though, 9 A.M. is not too bad if you live on campus, in most cases you can leave your dorm at 8:45 and still be in class on time.

I’d take the late class.

I haven’t left for college yet but I have held a couple of jobs with varying early and late shifts… If i had to choose between the two I’d definitely pick to work early, it’s just easier to get it over with… The thing about late classes/shifts is, like others have already said, they loom over your head until you get them over with… Yea you have a couple more hours from the time you get up to the time you go to class but even then you can’t really “do” anything with those hours or go out because you’ll have to be back on campus in time for your 6:00 clock class.

I found it extremely annoying to have to stop everything I was doing smack dab in the middle of the day just to go to work for a 6:00 shift and I can imagine it’s the same with college…

In the end it’s all up to you, if you plan to use those extra hours to sleep, study, do homework ect. ect. then those later classes might be helpful… but as for me I’d imagine having to go from wherever I am in the middle of the day back to campus for classes to be annoying and troublesome, especially if I could have gotten it done earlier while I was already there.

I’d take the morning class (even though I’m not a morning person) because I feel like the end of the day is MY time–a class would ruin that.

late classes and labs suck. I love morning classes… get everything out of the way.

If you can take the morning class, do it. Late classes are awful, especially if they’re long late classes. I took a three hour night class last year, and I regretted it the entire year, though it was either that or a day class with a professor I couldn’t understand. It’s harder to concentrate during night classes, at least for me. Easier to get it over with in the morning.

I have a lecture MW from 6-8 for fall. I’m not looking forward to it. I would personally rather get all my stuff done early in the day.

Morning. I want all my stuff to be done and over with, plus, spreading it out and having to sit in the lecture for a shorter period of time is much better for me.

Im pre med and doin no classes later than 330, (530 on two days) because i want my evenings to be totally free for whatever i wanna do, if i need to study or hang i can do watever, i dont have to wry about a class!

I do late classes all the time, I do my homework and studying much more easily in the morning.

I take tons of late classes, because I’m not a morning person and like to sleep in. I’ve never had a problem with them. Good luck with what you decide :)

I’m not a morning person either, but when I got to college I found that I would rather take earlier classes so that I can get out earlier. It feels so good to get out early afternoon and have the whole day ahead of you!
