late college applications

hi everyone--my daughter is heartbroken because she hasn't made the dance audition cut at any of the colleges she applied to. anyone know of any colleges still accepting late applications?

coolmommy - I am sorry to hear about your daughter. University of North Carolina School of the Arts is accepting applications until April 2nd with an audition date of April 17th at UNCSA. Here is the web address.

GOOD LUCK

I know that U Indiana at Bloomigton has an audition for their contemporary program on March 5. You have to be careful that you don’t get into the ballet site - the contemporary porgram is in health or something.
UMKC also have a March 5 or 6 audition. THis is a ballet modern program. I know point park has a couple more auditions.
There may be others, but it would help to get a sense of type of program she is interested in, and programs that she did not get into to get a sense of level. NCSA hs a modern program and a dance program but they are very competitive to get into.

There are also many colleges that don’t require dance majors to audition.

Hi. Sorry to hear that. What colleges have you tried? There is Dean College in Mass. They only require a video adition. We are going to look at this over spring break. I have talked to them several times and are very nice and have some very good dancers.

It might be worth a call to Goucher College and also University of South Florida. Although Goucher require auditions for a dance performance major, all dance classes are open to all students who have the appropriate skill level. Also, when I last looked, I believe South Florida required placement auditions only. Both schools have excellent training and may allow late applications. Worth a call.

Northern Illinois University has a nice ballet and modern program that does not require audition; they have excellent training. They are still accepting applications. The director there is very approachable and responsive.

Oklahoma City University has an admission/scholarship audition on March 27th. The program is ballet/tap/jazz.
