Would late dropping a course look really bad to professional schools? I'm taking Chem 111 (1 credit). I have an A/A- in each class except my chem lab. I was considering late dropping it and retaking it next semester. I've made so many irreversible mistakes in that class and now I have a D. I've talked to my TA about how I can improve, but she isn't much help. I plan to continue onto medical school and I want to try to keep my GPA as high as I can.

I would stick it out for a bit longer. Look at what you are doing wrong (quiz scores, notebook checks) and see if you can make improvements. The final lab report is a big grade booster/killer for everyone so make sure you get help and go to your TAs office hours to see if you are following their guidelines correctly.

If you are premed then you still have the second gen chem lab to take, you really don’t want to have to deal with these annoying labs when you start ochem.
