Hi everyone! I was wondering what happens if I submit the FAFSA and CSS after the priority deadlines? I wasn’t aware of them, and my dad was giving us a difficult time about providing information.
Does this mean I’m at loss for receiving aid? I can only go out of state without aid. When I’m admitted to my schools will I not receive aid or will I be able to talk to the financial aid office about the situation?
For institutional aid, it depends on how each school wants to treat a situation like yours - there is no general answer, other than that. Government aid through FAFSA (Pell grant, federal direct loans) will likely be available through the academic year.
Which of your 17 colleges do you think you missed the deadlines on?
Also…it depends on what “priority deadline” means at each college. Some colleges have an early priority deadline for ED or EA applicants, for example. But the regular deadline for need based financial aid for most students is later.
Often, also, the priority deadlines (for admissions and aid) need to be met for things like merit awards, admissions to honors colleges, etc.
What is the financial aid deadline for your college? Have you missed that…or just the priority deadline. Did you apply ED or EA?
What makes you think you missed the regular decision deadlines? Best bet is to contact the college financial aid offices directly…but…
Read these…from what I’m reading….if you are applying regular decision, you haven’t missed any deadlines. Hoping someone else reads and let’s me know if I’m right. Maybe @BelknapPoint ?
Where does the Profile give you financial aid deadlines! You really need to look on EACH a college website for that accurate info.
I agree make sure that you have the deadlines correct.
Then, if you have in fact missed any deadlines, call each school’s financial aid office to tell them the situation as you have described it here. They will help you, and many schools will allow the forms to come in late…of course you won’t get institutional financial aid until you meet their requirements. Good luck, I know it’s difficult when a parent is not being cooperative.
Did you apply early action to Fordham, Northeastern and U of Michigan? Please answer.
If you did, contact financial aid at all three…on Monday and ask what happens because in the case of EA at these three schools, you did miss their priority deadline.
BUT the meantime…can you get those forms submitted…TODAY?
