Okay guys, I think I really messed up my shot at getting financial aid!
It turns out I didn’t include my social security number on my common app since it wasn’t required, but they do need it to match with your FAFSA and CSS. Also on my FAFSA , I accidentally put my mom’s income where mine goes, so it shows us as having double her income I guess? Also I dont have any contact with my noncustodial parent , so I filed a bunch of noncustodial parent waiver forms so I wouldn’t have to do that portion of it on the CSS, but it’s showing up as missing on some schools still and they want noncustodial info on my IDOC that I just don’t have!?
I’m really worried and confused because I really am trying to keep all this straight but I applied to 10 schools and I’m doing it all by myself and I also don’t have easy access to a printer, scanner, or fax, so I guess I got some things confused!
I don’t know what to do , if anyone has any advice please help!
(1) Go in and correct the FAFSA so everyone’s income shows up where it’s supposed to.
(2) Contact those schools directly that say they’re still missing your nCP (noncustodial parent) info, and ask them if they received your waiver request, and if they need you to do anything else.
(3) Take a breath and relax . . .
You should amend your FAFSA…do it now. Get the numbers in the right spots. Has your mim completed her taxes? Did you link to the IRS DRT?
You need to contact each school where you requested waivers for the NCP, and find out if you have been granted that.
Also, contact the schools about adding your SS to your application.
