Late letter of rec

My teacher already told me she won't be able to make the Jan 1 deadline and won't be able to turn it in until a few weeks into January (no later than the 15th). I gave her months in advance but...you know how some teachers are.

Anyway, my question is, will she still be able to use the common app after the 1st or will she have to mail in the teacher rec form to each schools individually?

Thanks

She will be able to use the Common App Online school forms system to submit the letter of recommendation online at any time, even after the deadline. Since you know that the letter will be late you may wish to notify the college(s) to which the recommendation is headed to let them know it will be late and to check whether it will impact your application decision.

My life would be crushed if my decision was impacted by someone else’s actions. :(

Thanks for the advice though.

All the more reason to verify with the colleges whether the late letter will have an impact. If you are really concerned you should consider inviting a new teacher to send a letter in lieu of the one that will be late.

Okay, I will do that. :)

I’m applying to Harvard, Stanford, UPenn, Columbia, USC, UChicago, (a few others) just in case anyone is lurking and wants to know.

I’ll post what they say later.

Stanford somehow replied to my email literally within 2 seconds.

Wait, I have a question now…

I got my teacher a gift the day before break started and coincidentally the next day I checked and the “Resend” link next to her name went away. Does that mean that she downloaded the forms or did she actually send in her letter?

hopefully its the latter…

On the School Forms page, check the college to which you’ve assigned that teacher. You should be able to see the status of the Teacher Evaluation form. If the ‘Resend’ link went away that means she submitted the form online…
