Late LSE Application

Hey guys,

I just submitted my application to London School of Economics' Diploma in Accounting and Finance on the 21st of April. I am aware that I have submitted my application late but since LSE works on a rolling admissions basis, both of my courses are still listed as "Limited availability". How long should it take for me to hear back from the Department? I noticed that some people have claimed that LSE's admission decisions is quite fast. Please share your experience.

Stephan

Mine wasn’t too fast. It took about six weeks. I applied sometime in Feb (?) and heard back in late March.

However, some people have heard back quite fast (within a couple weeks) - but that was early on in the year, when decisions were easier to come by as less applicants were applying for more positions open.

If your program is listed as having limited availability, I would think that now it is “crunch time” for the adcoms who can only allow a small number in. I would think this may take longer…

Thanks for the note. If all goes well I should hear from them soon – considering they probably process applications in batches and that my application is already “Under consideration by the Department” I should have a reply soon.

If my course option closes while it is under consideration, does that mean that I won’t be considered?

If it closes while you are still under consideration - you will be put on what I call the “consideration list”. All applications in queue for consideration are returned with the notification that since the programme is full, neither an acceptance nor rejection can be given. If space opens up, your application will be revisted by the adcom. This has actually occurred to one of my closest friends. LSE told her she would have a decision by August whether or not she got a place if her application was considered…

Schneider, thanks for the reply. If my course closes while it is still being considered, won’t I have the choice of sending an application for a new course? Or, alternatively, I heard that you can reinstate your application for 2010/11. In this case, will I get a reply this year or will they only look at it after the next application cycle opens in October this year?
