late orientation

hey, i'm a cs major, and i just got signed up for the 104 orientation because of the site acting weird for me. i've heard that some people in alter orientations dont get the classes that they want, and i'm freaking out extremely badly. does anybody know how many of the "less popular" classes fill up by the 4th one? i really want to get great classes my first quarter so that i have a great time, but i'm still really freaking out about this. any info/help would be appreciated.

Orientation is doing a new system of registering for classes, where spots in several of the higher demand courses (including GEs and major prep courses) will be distributed evenly throughout the sessions. This ensures that all students will have an equal OPPORTUNITY to get the same classes (note that you’re not guaranteed a spot in any class).

The details can be found here: [UCLA New Student & Transition Programs - First Year Students](http://www.newstudents.ucla.edu/firstyearstudents.htm#enrollment)

sorry, forgot to mention that i know that. but lower popularity courses are not covered by this. what is that status on those?

Those are just up for grabs. However, most freshman take the same courses as others in their major, so naturally, you’ll be taking the more “popular” courses. For example, the UCLA CS website ([Computer Science — UCLA Engineering Office of Academic and Student Affairs](http://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/undergraduates/cs-department-curriculum-updates/computer-science)) shows that most freshmen in your major take Chem 20A, CS1, CS31, and a math class (whichever one you place into), all of which tend to be in pretty high demand, generally speaking.
