One of my teachers has still not yet sent in her recommendation letter, and I asked her months ago and even reminded her repeatedly. Is this going to really hurt my chances? Am I doomed? :(

I have a Harvard interview today at 3:30 where I might ask my interviewer the same question. Is that a bad idea?

Thank you!

Well, considering the fact that Harvard considers January test scores (which come out on Feb 10), I don’t think it’ll hurt your chances if one of the recs is still not in. Besides, they won’t penalize you for something that you have no control over. The best thing to do now is to remind the teacher again of how important this is to you, but do it in a nice way.

It’s not a bad idea to ask the interviewer the same question, though, to see his/her opinion on this.

Good luck! I had my interview yesterday and it went really well :D

Oh, really? Congrats! What kind of questions did they ask you?

At first, it started off as basic questions about my background, school, extracurriculars, etc. It soon turned into more of a conversation. It was really casual and not scary at ALL (as I thought it would be). If you and your interviewer can get along well and can strike up a conversation, you’ll do well! Just a note: bring a notebook and pen so you can write down the information he/she tells you. Also, it’s a good idea to bring a resume, in case your interviewer wants it for later reference (this is also helpful because if you never talked about one of your activities, your resume will speak for you). Horray!
