So I looked through my spam box for the first time in a long time and was shocked to find an email from Berkeley which states

"We are in the process of reviewing your application. Before we can complete our review and reach an admission decision, we need the following information from you:

Please provide the name of the state or country where you studied. Also list the names, dates of attendance and language of instruction for all schools attended prior to [school].

We must receive this information within five days of this message date, or processing of your application may be delayed or canceled."

I responded immediately but unfortunately, it was sent 7 days ago! Could this have jeopardized my chances? : kicking myself right now

I would definitely call them on Monday and explain the situation…

I got the same email from Berkeley as well! they wanted me to list different high schools i went to… idk why they are asking such unnecessary questions that have nothing to do with transfer students!

DEFINITELY call. Since it’s only been a couple of days, they might not care, but if they do, it’s best to explain everything on the phone with someone. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten through tough situations with my university by either calling someone up or by stopping by the person’s office.

And also, let this be a kind lesson to you on checking every part of your email account. It can be hard, especially when you get a separate school account, but you’ve unfortunately learned that things like this can happen. It’s also good to be safe and check every folder, right? Just takes a few extra minutes and could save countless hours.

Good luck with everything. I hope it works out.

After you sent in the response, did you get another email saying they received your response? I got a similar message from UCI in the beginning of March and I sent my response right away. They sent me an email saying my response will be attached to my application. I got into UCI four days after that. If you did not receive that message, I would call them immediately.

You’re making me paranoid! I just checked my spam folder and there’s nothing in there but I may have deleted a batch a month ago…are you a TAG applicant?

Anyway, I also had an email from SD but thankfully I managed to rely to that on time (just barely!). Still, I called both schools just in case.

SD said that the 5 day rule usually only affects applications when the responses are made right before the deadline and since it’s still early, she said I should be ok. The officer at Berkeley said she can’t guarantee that it won’t affect my application and that it all depends on the admissions officer. Sometimes they check the reply weeks later and wont even notice if it’s late, sometimes they review them within days. She did say that the admissions officer gets a notification when replies are made so I don’t think they would actually cancel my application due to it being a day late. Her response has left me pretty nervous though so FINGERS CROSSED!

@dmsgml7832 Yes I did get that email! hopeful it will be followed by an acceptance too haha

@smltk1 Urg it was outlook and yeah it is pretty crap. Ironically I made the account just for college apps so something like this wouldnt happen but outlook has been a nightmare, it keeps moving my emails and failing to sync with my mac mail. So just a warning to those of you with outlook out there because they put my emails in the spam folder even when I had added the UC to my contacts. Still, definitely my fault for not checking the junk folder more often. Just thankful I didnt find them in May haha

Did you guys get any phone calls as well??? I deleted all the contents in my gmail spam mailbox a week ago and forgot to check for any emails from the UCs. I am so worried…crap. Is there a way to retrieve them if they are not showing up in my trash box either?

I didn’t get any phone calls
but I wouldnt be too worried if you have gmail because they are usually good with separating spam and important mail. maybe you can call them to check?
