LATE Statement of Legal Residence! Please help!!

I submitted my SIR to UC Berkeley on April 22 and was unaware that my next step should have been to fill out the SLR. Just recently, I logged into my portal, realized that it was overdue and promptly submitted it (11 days late). I am very concerned because the portal says that a failure to submit the SLR by the deadline will result in $14,000 extra in tuition per semester.

“If you do not submit the SLR by the deadline, you will be considered a nonresident and charges over $14000 for additional nonresident fees per semester”

My family and I have been California residents for our entire lives (I live 20 min drive away from the campus!) and are relying on in-state tuition to pay for my college education. We would be unable to afford $14,000 extra per semester. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Is there anything I can do? Please tell me that there’s some hope!

I apologize for sounding panicked but I am sincerely terrified that I will unable to go to college next year because I failed to meet this one deadline. Thank you so much for your help!

@Gumbymom You seem to have a lot of knowledge about the UCs. Any insight?

When I click on the task on my portal, the status of the SLR has changed to "Auto Residency Determined. " Am I good??

Log into Cal Central. Click on the “My Finances” tab of the Dashboard. Under Financial Aid and Scholarships, click “Details”. It should be clear whether you are considered in-state or out-of-state by the amount of tuition you are being charged. (in state ~ $15k/year and out of state > $40k/yr)

Thanks everyone! It’s all good. My SLR was accepted

Good to know that your late SLR was accepted. Best of luck.
