Late Submission for Foreign Language

Hello all,

I am a prospective transfer to UC Berkeley for the Fall 2012 Semester. I am an OOS student transferring from the University of Miami.

The particular major I chose was MCB. I will have all the required pre-reqs completed (including physics) by the end of Spring 2011 (this semester) with a GPA of 3.75.

On myBerkeleyApp, I checked that I'm going to fill the breadth requirements using the L&S requirements, because I obviously can't do IGETC. For the foreign language requirement, I was told by an admission officer that I could just check the "I completed a three year sequence of the same foreign language in high school with letter grades of C- or better." box and I didn't have to specify which classes I took in high school.

However, I got an email from Berkeley admissions stating that I had to email them what foreign language I took in high school, and the grades otherwise, my application would be subject to being cancelled.

I have emailed them that information already, so my question really is would this affect my chances in anyway? I know, it seems like a small thing to get anal about, but it was kind of bothering me, because my chances are low anyway being OOS and all.

Any input is appreciated.

I think it will be a good thing.

why would they bother to email you for more information if they will reject you?

Thanks for your response.

I really hadn’t thought of it that way. I just thought that maybe it was something I should have filled out, but didn’t, and they just want to make sure I did complete 3 years of a foreign language.

Anyone else have any input?
