<p>No. I handed mine in a week into classes. It was fine.</p>
<p>A lot of kids don’t even have their essays by orientation. And they’re fine.</p>
<p>It is more for your benefit to get it in on time because it gives someone time to read it before you go to orientation. The purpose of the essay is to flag students who may need a little help before taking the first year writing requirement. I think it is only advisory anyway. They also give the essay to your first year writing course instructor.</p>
<p>My question is whether or not submitting my MCard stuff about a month late is problematic. I’ve got my orientation this Wednesday, and I just submitted stuff on Friday… :/</p>
<p>You will still get an M-card but it makes things a lot less work for everyone to have it done in advance.</p>
