Late Teacher Recommendation

This was a huge mistake on my part - asking for a teacher recommendation at this time of the year. Reason was I underestimated the amount of recommendations I needed and did not not want to ask a teacher for one more, since they have already written a few for me.

They say they will write it but the deadline’s pretty soon, and they will be gone for most of the holidays leaving roughly 5 days to write a letter.

But basically my question is

How late can they send the recommendations? I’ll have my common applications submitted by the deadline, but I don’t know the process for recommendations. If they submit it a few days late, will that be bad? Will I have missed the deadline?

On the other hand if it doesn’t work out, I will ask them for my other school with a deadline of Jan 15.

Wow, I completely left out the deadline.
Anyways, the deadline for the school is Jan 1st.

The hard deadline is for applicants to submit their Common App. Teacher recs can typically be 1-2 weeks late and still count.

Just to re-assure you, I’ll second that. The deadline is for the student submitted material. They know that rest can be delayed. They understand the constraints.
