I finished and sent in all my applications. But my teacher has yet to submit the online recommendation, and I want to send it in as soon as school starts tomorrow. My question is, can she still submit the online recommendation on the School Forms section? Will it be sent to the colleges? Or is my only option right now to have her send in the recommendation by mail?

please... anyone?

I don't know the answer, unfortunately. Maybe someone else here does, but--

Why not ask her to try submitting it online first thing tomorrow? If it works, great; if it doesn't, she can print off a hard copy and you can mail it right after school (even express if you want). Either way, things will be accomplished about as quickly as they can.

Colleges won't drop your application because of a reasonably late rec, especially if it's out of your control. You're safe. Just talk to your teacher tomorrow.

Your teacher will still be able to submit the recommendation. I had the same question so I sent an email to CommonApp. Here is an excerpt from their reply:

"In reference to School Forms, you are allowed to submit your online application before all your teachers or guidance counselors submit their school forms no matter whether they choose to do so online or on paper. The Common App system allows school forms to be submitted even after the application has been submitted.
Before you submit your application, please follow up with your teachers and counselors to ensure they will be able to complete and submit a school form or recommendation prior to the school's stated application deadline. You will not be able to make changes to the teacher/counselor list after you submit your application with the exception of resending the notification to your teacher or counselor. "

I hope this helps. If I were you, I would still remind your teacher, in case he/she forgot.

Thank you so much, gobraves!

It's ok if the teacher/counselor recommendation letters are a little late. I heard this from an admissions officer at a college informational meeting. Ask your teacher to send the recommendation ASAP. Online would be best.

Here's an update: My teacher just sent the recommendation online today, 1/14/09. Is this too late? Also, will I need to call the colleges to inform them that I sent it in?

bump.......

bump.................

I'd like to know about this too. I had two teachers do recommendations- one has had everything in since before the deadline, the other JUST told me he submitted, when many of those recs were due between 12/31 and 01/02. Will colleges still accept them? Once I get back to school I'm going to speak to my college counselor about it, but that's not until Wednesday. I'm extremely frustrated, as I asked him to do this, specifically asked if he had enough time (I gave them to him 12/10 and I was worried THEN that I'd given them to him too late), and have been reminding him (politely) every week since (more like every day since the deadline has passed).

I could understand a couple of days past, but at this point it seems to be obscenely late. I'm really worried, because I submitted all those applications (obviously) and have paid hundreds of dollars in fees and score reports. For some colleges, they have no recs for me, as he was my main one.
