Hello College Confidential forums!

First off I would like to state that I'm new here so I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this question so sorry ahead of time if it is.

Anyway, this is a two part question. First off I would like your opinions on whether it would be a bad idea to transfer to a new school after my junior year? (I would like to state that I am most likely on a five year plan because I changed majors late. Also for reference, I just completed my first semester of my sophomore year.) My reason for deciding to transfer is because I picked the school I am at right now because I planned on being a teacher but now that I changed to a science major (Geology), I would much rather go to a larger state school where I could have more resources available to me.

My second question is if anyone would have any idea on how difficult it would be to transfer to the University of Illinois: Urbana-Champaign? As of now I have a 2.1 GPA but I am retaking the courses which brought it so low and am hoping to raise it as close to a 3.0 as I can. Will that and a few extra-curricular activities (such as hall council and executive position in the school running club), and a leadership program be enough to get me in? Anything else you can recommend I do to increase my chances?

I appreciate any help I can get!
