Late Transfer to UChicago

I am really just curious to see if I should even expect a chance at admittance for transfer to U of C.

I graduated from high school and enlisted in the Marine Corps, where I served for three years before being sent to the Naval Academy. Since then I have realized the USNA is not the ideal environment for me--they do not have my desired major, and graduate opportunities are all-but non-existent.

Current School: United States Naval Academy
Entering as: 3rd year
High School GPA: 3.0x unweighted
College GPA: 3.96 with 105 credit hours (I've taken an average of 24 per semester)
Major: mathematics and history
SAT/ACT Scores: 2010
SAT II Scores: None
Significant ECs: Varsity offshore sailing, debate, intern at NC state bar
Hooks: Enlisted Marine?
US/Intl: US

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi nhkpr7,
I am guessing you are applying for Fall of 2014, because I know that decisions for Fall of 2013 applicants were made earlier this month. UChicago is really difficult to transfer into. As you may already know, the transfer acceptance rate has dropped significantly over the past few years. I believe the rate for last year’s transfer class was under 2%. That said, I think you are a very competitive applicant. Your GPA and EC’s are very good, and transfer applicants from service academies are looked very highly upon, from what I hear. Just know that due to the very small number of spots available for transfer students, many qualified applicants are denied admission. I wish you luck!

Where else did you apply to transfer?
