Later High School vs. Earlier High School

Along with most other kids in high school, I have changed a bunch from freshman to senior year. Looking back at my grades during my freshman year, I did comparatively bad to how I am doing today. I made more A's this past semester than I did my entire freshman year and I was just wondering...do colleges see that kids change and take that into account rather than holding your freshman year heavily against you?

I have a 3.5 uw and a 3.82 weighted gpa. If freshman year was not counted for me I would have a 3.95 w. My last report card was A's (Astronomy, Nutrition, American Literature), A-'s (Honors Pre-Calc, Honors Art), and one B+ (AP Biology).

I have changed a bunch and I was wondering how much colleges will take that into account. I guess I will find out soon enough with my top choices coming this week...

Colleges like to see an upward grade trend, so that will work in your favor. Further, the more recent the grades, the more they tend to matter. Some schools ignore freshman year entirely. It’s almost always (if not always) the least important year for admissions.

Makes me feel a bit better haha, thanks!
