Latest Date to Send ACT

Okay, I am taking the ACT this Saturday. I haven't had very much time to prepare for it, so I think I want to take the test in December, as well. I'm applying to Northwestern, Emory, and Amherst...all whose deadlines are in early January. I don't want to directly send my scores to my universities because of the fear of doing worse than before.

I will receive scores for the November test in time to send them for regular decision, without having to "direct send."

If I am taking the test on December 9th, I would not want to send the November score until I saw my December score. Like I said before, I do not want to direct send any scores.

When is the latest date I can send my ACT scores for regular decision? Can I send my applicantions in by the regular decision deadline, then send my scores slightly after that?

I'm pretty sure you will be able to. You should get your scores around the 20th of December, so if you immediately Priority Send them, they should get there within a week. It usually takes 3-4 days, but with the holiday's it might take while longer.

ACT says it will take 4-7 weeks...and there is not rush service....as it takes them up to 2.5 weeks to score the test.

^So does that mean it won't fly? I'm calling admissions tomorrow anyways.

Yeah, that would be the best bet.

You can do "Priority Sending" it costs more money, and it only takes a couple days. If your scores are available right when they release them for Early Viewing, you can send them.

<a href="http://www.actstudent.org/scores/send/costs.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.actstudent.org/scores/send/costs.html</a></p>

<a href="http://www.actstudent.org/scores/early/index.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.actstudent.org/scores/early/index.html</a></p>

Your request will be processed in about 5 business days after it is scored. The scoring takes about 2-2.5 weeks....

So, the time would be 18 days + 5 business days = 23 days.

If there is a weekend within the 5 business days, then it will take 25 days, about 4 weeks at best.

Also note, that being able to see your scores does not speed up their reporting to colleges.

Schools tell you the latest testing you can take. This would take into account how long it takes to score and how long it takes for the scores to be received. The schools themselves should be able to tell you if December scores (my impression is that they are usually accepted) need to be rushed.

It is probably sufficient that a request for scores be made by the deadline. If scores or anything else are missing by the time they have reviewed applications for completeness (which takes some time), they just tell you and you have a chance to send in anything that is missing.

The schools that my daughter is looking at - such as Rutgers, UMASS Amherst and UCONN do not explicitly state which test score date will be accepted.
I think the general rule is the test has to be taken prior to the submission of the application, and must be received no later than a certain date -I've seen two weeks or one month after the application deadline.

you are cool.. TESTING must be done before the due date... so as long as you indicate the scores should be sent before the due date of the apps ur cool!

But sometimes testing can follow the due date, as in those schools that allow November testing for ED/EA. But I agree that if these are allowed, the schools will (probably) tell you. If they don't, a good assumption is that later testing isn't allowed -- a deadline is a deadline.

When in doubt, just ask the schools!
