New leader of the University System is from U of Connecticut. He’s a horse of a different color in that he’s never been a provost or college president before. Then again, the previous leader, a corporate executive, was a horse of a different color. Don’t know if that will be a drawback or not as regards the recent turmoil at Mizzou. Here’s the most far-sighted comment I’ve seen about his appointment thus far:
“This must be a mistake. He has authentic academic credentials and reasonable administrative experience.”
He is the current provost at U of Connecticut. Before that he was the college of engineering dean. UF went this same route (Provost at Cornell, before that the COE dean), and it’s working out for us. 
Now he needs to hire the new Mizzou chancellor…

you have to be nuts to take any job like that at any school in 2016…let alone mizzou. it is like getting a new car and the manager of the dealership shakes your hand says enjoy your new car…you are going to crash…I guarantee it!
@zobroward True, but these deals tend to have golden parachutes baked into them. If he crashes, MO may have to pay him big time just to get rid of him.
Not worth the stress golden parachute or not.
Not so sure about that- above post. The stress levels of living in Missouri may far outweigh the perhaps high powered craziness perception I have of the east coast for the person.
