Latin/ foreign language reqs.

Hey everyone.

I'm currently a sophomore trying to decide about next years classes.

After this year I will have 2 years of a foreign language (latin). I am planning on taking latin 3 next year (1st semester) but I am trying to decide if I should take latin 4 in the 2nd semester or not. I hear it's extremely difficult and my other classes are really hard as well so I don't know.

So do you guys think it would look better for admissions to take up to latin 4 and then stop, or would it be ok if I only did up to latin 3 and then senior year take french 1 or something.

Opinions?

thanks guys.

Many top-tier schools, e.g. Harvard, prefer four years to three. Some others (e.g. UMich) just prefer three to two.

It really just depends on your goals.

I'm not trying to go to Harvard or anything. Just a good school.

Take three years and you'll be fine; in fact, I only took three years of Spanish (I couldn't fit a fourth year into my schedule) and I'm attending Dartmouth.

I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the reassurance. That's what I was hoping to hear.
