<p>You can fulfill any college’s language requirement or recommendation with Latin. However, Latin, particularly in the last decade or so, has had certain practical problems for students getting what is needed. Many high schools don’t have Latin anymore. Also, there have been many high schools in the last decade that have come face to face with budget problems and one of the first things they have done is shut down their Latin programs leaving students in a bind because they cannot complete the recommended number of years, often 3 or 4, by higher ranked colleges. Don’t know if your high school might be facing that risk but things like Spanish and French are rarely cut. In addition, College Board gives the Latin SAT subject test only in Dec and June and thus you have that limitation if you need the subject test, e.g., it won’t be something you can take in Oct or Nov for early decision or early action…</p>
