Latin SAT

I'm planning on taking the Latin SAT, I am currently taking Latin 3. My teacher said that by studying for the final would be studying for the SAT 2's. But, I still want a book in order to feel more prepared, but there aren't any good ones. Would it be ok to study for the SAT 2's by buying the AP book? What should I do?

I just took the Latin SAT and I got a perfect score. The AP is very different from the SAT. The SAT is very much more grammar focused. You have to know all your constructions pretty well, even the uncommon ones like the supine purpose clause. Imperatives, subjunctives, gerundives, fearing clauses, conditionals, all these you should know really really well. There are also a lot of sight passages. It is not enough just to get the general meaning. They ask really detailed questions like which pronoun goes with which noun etc. The answer choices can sometimes be very similar, and even look the same if you don’t know what you’re looking for. The AP is more focused on one or two pieces of literature (for the test next year it is Vergil and Caesar). The AP book won’t be very useful. There is one Latin SAT prep book and it is very helpful. If you know everything in that book, you should be set. It also has two full length practice tests in the back. One more thing that’s huge is vocab. I found this program which is really helpful. You buy it (unfortunately it’s not free, but it’s only $10) and you download it and basically it gives you English and you put in the Latin (including the forms and the gender if applicable). You can change the settings to make it easier (gives you the Latin, you put the English etc.) It really helped me. Here’s the link to get it [Centaur Systems – Software for Latin, Greek, and Classical Studies](http://www.centaursystems.com/catalog/lvd.html). You can choose the vocab from several different textbooks. Personally, I used the Shelmerdine, but it’s up to you.

Hope I was helpful!
