Latin1

Okay, one more post before I recharge my phone....

Has anyone taken Latin at the CC level? I've read a few post
from students taking Latin at a U, but not seen any from a
CC student.

Is it very difficult? I am taking Latin1. My CC does not offer
Latin 2-they jump to 3. I believe I will be able to enroll in
An independent study for the 2nd sememster though; then
resume "reg. classess" for 3rd semester(latin3 course).

This is the class I am most worried about. I think I will have to
devote an enormus amount of time to get an A. I am taking
quite a few classes-and one of them requires a lab.

Anyway, if anyone has taken it & can give me any advice-that
would be great!

lol latin is tough!

but a very enriching class…i suggest you try it and drop it if you cant handle it.
dont pack on too much especially just coming back after 10 years.
if you feel you cant handle it, be aware of drop dates and drop it with a refund and withOUT a W.

otherwise go for it!

i havnt taken it so i have no experience with it, but i took philosophy and my prof always taught us latin…and boy it was a mouthful. i had to get tutoring for it but managed to get an A. i dont think id ever take latin again. (and that wasnt even latin)

Hey Dainese-

Thanks again.

I wish it was only 10 years ago-more like 20+
I never even finished 10th grade; took the GED when I was 18 or 19.
I did pretty well but-that was a long time ago.

I’ve enjoyed reading your thread for the new kids who will be
enrolling @ the CC you attended.
It’s very nice of you to spend so much time helping others-answering
all of their q’s. I learned a lot.

I am taking Latin for my major-I am truly
Interesed in learning though.
Plus my CC does not offer Hebrew any longer.

Anyway, thanks again for all the info. If I keep
repeating that,well, it’s b/c I really have learned a lot.
I have all the classess that I want to take mapped out; and I
would of never of done that yet if I didn’t
come across your thread.(I just hope I will be able to
get all the classess that I want for the remainding
semesters!).

Hey, I wish u all the best this fall!

Oh, I want to take Latin also b/c I’ve
read it help w/vocab etc. Since I have been
out of school so long, I am really stressing
about my grammar,syntax etc.

Re course load. I am in school morning untill 7 or 8 pm M-TH.
I have time between each class though. I plan
On using that time for study. So I will have enough time
to spend on each subject/class.

sounds like you know what your doing, but dont be afraid to seek the free tutoring services :)

they really do help.
best of luck!

Thanks!

I basically will be living @ the school; so I am
def. gonna hit them up re tutor

I also have a 1 unit class that starts in Oct. For about
6 weeks. 3 hours;in the middle of the afternoon…
