Latino Alumni Association Scholarship...?

I got an email saying that I have been selected as a recipient of the Latino Alumni Association Scholarship, worth $3,000 per year and renewable for eight semesters.

I'm not Latino - did anyone else get this email? Is this a legitimate email?

bump

Dude, I got this email and I’m not Latino either lol!!

I’m not Latino either. Maybe this isn’t legit.

Yes, I am not latino either. There are service requirements.

USC Latino Alumni Scholar Requirements

•For those who are selected, 10 credits of volunteer service/involvement with USC Latino Alumni Association events will be required for the 2011-2012 academic year.
•Four hours dedicated to mentoring a high school student through the USC Latino Alumni Association LCAAP mentorship program is required in addition to the 10 required credits.
•USC Latino Alumni scholars must register with the Career Planning & Placement Center ([Welcome! | USC Career Center](http://careers.usc.edu)).
•Undergraduate USC Latino Alumni scholars must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Graduate USC Latino Alumni scholars are required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

LOL I hope someone can clarify this soon.

Same here!

same. got it, not latino.

Looks like they may have mistakenly sent the email.

oh well, free money :D

I hope it is legit! It’ll be fun to join the organization and help out in the community!

i’m wondering if it’s a fluke? cause i got it too and figure they accidentally sent it to everyone haha

I too received it. Not Latino. LOL.

Same here and I’m not a Latina!

Will this decrease the University Grant I receieved or have any affect on the amount of need based aid I received from USC?
Also, how can I find this amount on the Financial Planner?

I received it also and I’m Asian. So I do not think being Latino was a requirement. And hopefully it doesn’t decrease our financial aid. It might take a few days for the financial planner to update?

Same. Not hispanic, didn’t apply for the scholarship…I’m guessing we’ll all get apology emails and our hopes of an extra 3k taken away by tomorrow

Are all of you first generation?

Nope, I’m not.

Dammit, I actually am Latino and I got it. I felt special for a second :(

LOL if there is one thing i haven’t done in my life its contribute to the Latino community

I was laughing so hard at the email

Here’s the $64000 question regarding this scholarship: Has anybody who received this scholarship submitted their enrollment deposit yet? If not, is this USC’s last ditch attempt to lure desired applicants?

Also, have any of you received another merit scholarship from USC?

No, I did not send my deposit yet and the email DID specifically mention to submit the deposit my May2. Hmm… Sounds fishy.
I, personally, did not recieve any merit aid so far.
But my bff, who did recieve a Trustee, did not recieve this email.
