Thanks man for telling me about those schools I would’ve overlooked them. Colgate seems very interesting to apply to. So you’re saying that being a minority has no effect for big state schools like wisconsin, mighigan, or maryoand?
You might be interested in Diversity Flyin’s. Some college programs have already closed, but a few are still open. I noticed Lehigh on your list. They take part in this program, but already closed. You might want to look the list over and see which programs are still accepting applications. Oberlin http://new.oberlin.edu/arts-and-sciences/admissions/mvp/apply.dot and
University of Vermont https://www.uvm.edu/admissions/undergraduate/discovering_uvm
are still accepting applications.
Here are two different flyin lists –

@obligatoryname Being a minority from NJ is not going to matter at out of state schools. Those states have plenty of minority students as residents. Plus being out of state means no money and harder admissions requirements.
Where it will matter the most are schools trying to diversify, like the elite liberal arts schools and many of the Catholic schools, which have traditionally been dominated by white students.
Colgate is fantastic. The campus is beautiful.
Personally, I would scrap all the state schools you listed and Wash U and lean on TCNJ and Rutgers as safeties and roll the dice on some liberal arts colleges where being a highly underrepresented Latino male matters. I would add Lafayette and St. Lawrence to that list. These two are easier to get into than the ones Iisted but really great schools.
I would focus on those kind of schools but I’d rather go to a state school outside of nj.
thanks @MLM I wish I knew about that earlier.
I don’t know very much about the schools on your list, but I think that your stats and URM status will give you a competitive edge in a lot of colleges. Like you said, ECs aren’t spectacular but if they mean a lot to you, make the apparent in your essays and I think you’d have a solid chance. Other than that, it’s all up to the admissions gods now. Good luck with everything!
It would be greatly appreciated if you could chance me back!

Thanks and again, good luck!
For Maryland, Penn State, Delaware, and U Conn, you have a good chance. The best you could do currently is improve your GPA and retake the SAT if possible. Your focus on basketball is good, and you should try for an athletic scholarship. Wash U and Emory would be reaches, and 3-7 would be high targets. Good luck!
Thanks @effyeahjen I’ll chance you back but I think you posted the wrong link. Thanks @allisontfb I tried for a scholarship but I only got D1 interest from smaller schools. I don’t want to end up at the wrong school so I decided not to play in college. I’m a senior so I can’t change my GPA for EA schools, but I have all A’s and 1 B+ so far. I also took the SAT in October and expect to get around 2000.
I believe you have a good chance at BU, Delaware, and UCONN. The only problem I can see is your GPA, and perhaps add some more ECs in if you can. Chance me back please?

Being latino will help to some extent, but your GPA and sat scores may be a bit low for schools like Emory. If you have a really good essay that will definitely help make up for it, though. Chance me for Georgia Tech?
