Latino Student Recruitment 2015 Likely Letter!

I just received a likely letter from Duke University on March 19th!

“Greetings from Duke University! In recognition of your strong academic and extracurricular accomplishments, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the entire Duke community are thrilled to invite you to the 16th annual Latino Student Recruitment Weekend (LSRW)… Your chances of being admitted are excellent.”

Congrats to all that received the likely letter!

I received one as well! Congrats!

@Homeless2Harvard‌ Congrats man! I’ve seen you posting a lot in these forums and your aspirations. You made it man!

Thank you! I can’t express to you how amazing this feels! I love Duke!!!
I’m definitely going to try to do everything in my power to attend LSRW! So excited about getting this likely letter!!! Never thought I would get one!

Sincere CONGRATULATIONS to each of you!!!

Was it an actual letter, or an email notification?

In any case, congratulations!

@Tiberium‌ It’s an email.

I’m still in shock. I’m more nervous now than I was before! I didn’t think that I had a shot at Duke, but this raised my hopes and now I’m way too anxious.

Are we sure that this is a likely letter and not something that they send to EVERY latino? I know it explicitly says “Naturally, inviting you to campus means we think you are a very strong candidate for admission,” but I don’t want to get my hopes TOO high.

@thanksagain‌,

I didn’t receive one. I believe that you might as well consider yourself admitted.

@thanksagain‌ You will be admitted unless they find something from now till decision day that they do not approve.

I have a lot to think about when decisions come in from my schools! :slight_smile:

@thanksagain‌: I am always cautious, but I congratulate you on your impending admission; that IS a “likely letter.”

For some reason, I think I’ll still be nervous when checking my decision on Thursday. But I’m so excited!! I never knew that Duke was even a possibility for me!

Decisions come out this Thursday?

I got one as well!! Unfortunately, it is the week of my prom, but it is still a great honor and stress reliever. Congrats to the rest of you!

Do you think if my daughter didn’t get the hispanic invitation, it’s a rejection?

@Maroonfan (re post #13):

Obviously, no one can answer your question authoritatively and any opinion provided is completely speculative. Were a poster to indicate “yes” or “no” to your query, would that change anything or reduce/increase your (and your daughter’s) anxiety?

We’re five days from Duke’s issuance of undergraduate admissions decisions. As has been frequently suggested to the “kids,” the ONLY reasonable option is to wait patiently until Thursday.

@TopTier‌ Wise reply. Thanks!

@Maroonsfan‌: You are more than welcome; wishing you and your daughter the best of luck on Thursday.
