I just received a likely letter from Duke University on March 19th!
“Greetings from Duke University! In recognition of your strong academic and extracurricular accomplishments, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the entire Duke community are thrilled to invite you to the 16th annual Latino Student Recruitment Weekend (LSRW)… Your chances of being admitted are excellent.”
Thank you! I can’t express to you how amazing this feels! I love Duke!!!
I’m definitely going to try to do everything in my power to attend LSRW! So excited about getting this likely letter!!! Never thought I would get one!
I’m still in shock. I’m more nervous now than I was before! I didn’t think that I had a shot at Duke, but this raised my hopes and now I’m way too anxious.
Are we sure that this is a likely letter and not something that they send to EVERY latino? I know it explicitly says “Naturally, inviting you to campus means we think you are a very strong candidate for admission,” but I don’t want to get my hopes TOO high.
For some reason, I think I’ll still be nervous when checking my decision on Thursday. But I’m so excited!! I never knew that Duke was even a possibility for me!
Obviously, no one can answer your question authoritatively and any opinion provided is completely speculative. Were a poster to indicate “yes” or “no” to your query, would that change anything or reduce/increase your (and your daughter’s) anxiety?
We’re five days from Duke’s issuance of undergraduate admissions decisions. As has been frequently suggested to the “kids,” the ONLY reasonable option is to wait patiently until Thursday.
