emailed davis… hopefully i can get a spot on that waitlist, cause i have a horrible foundation in chem… and im a BME major…

I hope you get him for your professor. He is really cool. He also takes it very easy with the grades. Most of the people in our class got an “A”. It’s nice to have him as professor because it takes a lot of stress off from your first year to have an easy chemistry professor. They were people with little to no chem background who got high grades as well in Laude’s class. I would also have to say that Laude is probably the most entertaining lecturer at UT. If you do not get in right away, keep the faith because 60 to 70 people got in off the wait list a couple of days before class started.

Would my initial score on the CHEM aleks affect my place on the waitlist for dr laude’s class?

Mrs Davis told me that there are “lots of things” that affect placement on the list

Is it too late to email his assistant about getting on the waitlist?

The reason that Laude’s class is “closed” on the course schedule is because the spots in his class are reserved for ESP students, FRI students, certain FIGs, and other miscellaneous programs. I don’t know all the programs that get to be in Laude’s class but those are just a few that I know of. I was in a FIG and that’s how I got in to Dr. Laude’s class. And oh my god his class was amazing. A lot of people complained about how they don’t think they learned anything from him and instead learned more from the TAs, but that’s because he’s kind of all over the place in lecture due to lack of sleep. But man, he is funny! And his TAs are the best ever. They really know their stuff and they’re super nice and friendly. His office hours are super helpful. I highly recommend going to his office hours because he will tell you what kind of question he is putting on the exam, if not the actual question that will be on the quiz or exam. It’s awesome. I would tell you the cool things we did in class, but I don’t want to spoil it Definitely an unforgettable class.
