LaunchX Summer 2020

@szhang5040 they switch it automatically, no need to manually switch the round that you’re applying for.

anyone get an interview yet? very anxious

Hi there. Question about locations. What is the logic on how they place students at the various campuses? Do they take into account how far a student has to travel?

I think it’s based on skill traits told on your application

@Helpmaam99 @kimbokjoo The first thing that the admissions team looks at when placing students at a location is the dates that they select for their availability on the application. When applying, you’ll get a window where you can select all the dates in the summer you’d be free to attend LaunchX. The admissions officers then try to place you with what is the best fit for you timing-wise. They will then go through and try and make sure that there’s a diverse skill set at each location and then move people around if needed. However, the main thing is making sure that the dates work for the applicant.

for past participants: how likely is it that people continue with their startup even after the program?

^also, do most groups continue the startup together? or does one person from the group usually take over afterwards? thanks!

has anyone gotten views on their videos yet? i got one january 2nd.

will they email us for an interview?

Did anyone get an interview yet?

@kimbokjoo not that I’m aware of. Based on last year I think they start sending out interview requests around the 16th, so let’s hope for the best ?.

I got an invitation to interview on Jan 4th. My interview is Tomorrow… I am so nervous!!!

Good Luck!

@butterbear09 I don’t have any numbers on this that I can give you, but I can tell you a bit about my experiences as an alum. From my session, there were 16 startups, and I’d say about 12 continued after the program. Some of them were only active a few months while others have been active for years. I know that one startup recently raised $100,000 in seed funding (check out their blog post at launchx.com).

Mine was active for about 6 months past LaunchX until my teammates and I decided to focus on different projects that we each had going on. Really, how long a startup stays active depends entirely on the members involved. So, if you are passionate about continuing your startup past LaunchX and willing to take the steps necessary, you can definitely grow your startup.

In regards to team member involvement, usually, the whole team will stick together. Exceptions are if there is a teaming issue (such as one person not pulling their weight). In this case, one person might be asked to leave the startup after the program ends.

Does anyone know if the ED applications are rolling or everyone hears mid-Feb?
