Do we need to bring some/buy some or do they have some in the laundry rooms that you can buy cheaply?

(Especially in Foothill)

Do we get a lamp or do we bring a lamp?
Bulbs?

Bulbs?

*I don't know about Foothill so the information I'm giving is for Unit 3.

For laundry, there's washers and dryers that either use debit from your Cal1 card or coins (I think). I'm pretty sure they have laundry detergent you can buy that's enough for 1 load but if you plan on using the laundry a lot, I would suggest buying a whole container from outside of school (i.e. Target, Walgreens, etc.).

For a lamp, Unit 3 rooms had a fluorescent light above that could have its bulbs replaced by staff if they burned out or didn't work anymore. I would suggest bringing your own person lamp or light if you're one of those people that like a lot of light for studying, etc.

Forget quarters for the laundry machines - with the Cal1Card it's so easy because you can just charge it to CARS, so basically you're having your parents prepay for your laundry. And that way you also don't have to scrimp and save for those precious quarters. Back when my sister was in college and I was still in high school, every time she came home, my change jar mysteriously and significantly reduced in volume.

Later on I figured out that it was the underwear gnomes and they decided to change their target to coins, so they went on to steal my change instead. My sister's appearance at the house every time this occured was pure coincidence.

For Foothill, you have to buy laundry detergent and bounce at the supermarket or Walgreens or Target or the whole foods store. You need to bring your own desk lamp and light bulbs.

There's a Whole Foods in Berkeley?! I haven't seen it, but now I'm excited to look.

There is zero - ZERO - reason to go to whole foods. It is overpriced crap, and the selection isn't even that good.

Instead, what you need is Berkeley Bowl. It's easily accessible by bus (it's okay by foot, but a bit of a walk), has MUCH better prices, and much, MUCH wider selection than Whole Foods. And Berkeley Bowl and Whole Foods are about the same distance from school. You can find a lot of imported stuff and international food items that Whole Foods doesn't carry.

It's amazing. Trust me.

The Whole Foods in Berkeley is on Telegraph & Ashby.

Well for laundry detergent & stuff like that, I don't think it matters where you buy it, just as long as it's what you want and it's at a good price. But for food, Berkeley Bowl is a lot better than Whole Foods.

"For Foothill, you have to buy laundry detergent...
You need to bring your own desk lamp and light bulbs."

Umm...dude what am I paying extra for? a lack of a desk lamp and laundry detegent. LAME.

Where are the nearest clothing stores around Berkeley? Like the mainstream stuff.

Bancroft Clothing Co on Bancroft and...Bowditch? College? I think it's Bowditch.

Last I checked, there was a Hot Topic on Telegraph, but that place is barftastic.

Also an American Eagle on the corner of Telegraph and Bancroft, although they may have moved.

Bear Basics on Telegraph and Durant.

Joy's on Telegraph and Channing.

I mentioned Whole Foods as an option because it's one of the few places you can find biodegradable laundry detergent. Neither Walgreens nor Target carry those brands.

The on-campus stores, such as Bear Market, also carry biodegradable laundry detergent and stuff like that. They're much closer, and you can use your points to buy them, so that's possibly the best option.

Actually I think it's supposed to be American Apparel instead of American Eagle.

That's right, my mistake.

So...even worse.
