Laundry list of EC's?

Ive seen on chances that if u dont have a laundry list of activities filling the page, CC'ers say ur lacking. Is there even room for all that? Plus, dont colleges prefer to see two or three EC's ur passionate about rather than 50 activities u did throughout high school?

“dont colleges prefer to see two or three EC’s ur passionate about rather than 50 activities u did throughout high school?”

Yes, they do. However, on the chance threads you’re probably looking at, CCers are probably nay-saying posters based on the fact that they haven’t shown some impressive leadership position or regional/national recognition for their EC. Unfortunately for a lot of applicants, just being a regular student involved in a few clubs and a sport isn’t enough to make colleges notice you among the literal thousands of applications they receive yearly.

Not to say that you CAN’T get in to a good college with just a few clubs and a sport, but to really impress adcoms (and CCers, haha) with your ECs they have to see evidence that you really ARE passionate about the couple ECs you have by taking those ECs to the next level. The students colleges want on their campuses are the ones who are vital parts of the programs they’re involved in. In other words, your ECs are good if, when you’re too sick to make it out to the game, the whole team is at a loss. But if the coach can easily replace you with someone else and forget you were even supposed to come, maybe not.

Your first mistake is to go to the “chance me” forum to begin with. Inhabited by kids with avg age of 16. It’s the huge CC echo chamber.

^ agree.

Once I posted a chance me…

Never again.

Yeah I don’t like chance me threads, but based on the acceptance threads where people post stats and if they were accepted/rejected, CCers do ring close to true in the Chance Me threads. Most of us dream of a top 10 school, and most of us have a very low chance. And we just relay that info to everyone.

And the ideal student apparently needs a laundry list, ALONG WITH some focused deep e.c.'s with leadership/awards. Easier said than done.

Don’t worry about what people are posting in the chance threads. I used to be into them, but now I’ve learned better.

I still reply to them sometimes, but I’m not obsessive about them.

I know. Stopped believing in chances. But the question was will i be fine if i have about 5 ec’s that i like.
For example, im captain of my basketball team, so yea, if i was sick, my team would really get beat hard.
And im in the model UN winning 2 best delegate and 1 honorable mention. Plus being an assistant committee director. Ive done some volunteering around my local islamic center and was apart of the muslim student association at my school. Not alot, but three things im passionate about.

Do whatever it is that you are interested in and not to fill up a page asking about EC’s. And I agree that chance me forums are useless.
