I am in Mesa Court housing and have just checked out the laundry rooms here. It says to use "liquid detergent only." But I am wondering if it is also ok to use poweder detergent? Do I just sprinkle it in with the rest of the laundry?

It's ok to use powdered detergent, but don't use the full cup. Use less than recommended because it may produce too many suds (that's what they are afraid of).

My machines make me put the detergent over the clothes. It works the same way anyway. If you put it in a special slot for detergent, it'll just swoop in with the water.

dude seriously put the powder soap in when the water is filling up. put the powder right under the stream of water so that it will not clump up and make your clothes all nasty. but yes you put it right in with the clothes on top of them. like i said tho put it under where the water fills up the machine.

our machines do not allow us to put it in while the water is filling up. So i have to put everything in at once.

What do you mean by the powder clumping up and making my clothes all nasty? Couldn't that be prevented by simply spreading around the powder a bit?

Can you look at the machine and tell where the water will come in once you turn it on? Putting the soap under the stream of water breaks it up so that it won't clump up and leave residue on your clothes. Put the clothes into the machine and then add the soap where the water fills the machine.

Dude with the directions I am giving you the soap is on top. Put the clothes in first. Spread them evenly around the machine so that it does not get off balance. Place the soap on top of the clothes, but on the side of the machine where the water fills. The pressure of the water onto the soap breaks it down to avoid nasty clumps and white spots. Ok?... hope that helps.
