never used special detergent. people just use whatever regular liquid or power detergent they normally use. dump it on top of the clothes, shut the door, and press the button. even the instructions tell you to do that.

If you don't use HE detergent for front loaders, the life of the washer will decrease. Washers will have to be replaced sooner than later and hence increase prices to wash clothes. If they are front loaders, there should be signs in the laundry room telling students to use HE detergent only. Also, you use less detergent for front loaders (they don't suds too much) and save money because you don't have to buy detergent as often. Be sure to follow instructions or you will have lots of suds in your clothes for using too much.
Have fun washing! If too much trouble to do laundry, just take it home :-)

Arg...are the washers in Vista front loaders, and therefore do they require HE detergent?

They are front loaders. I just use liquid Tide for detergent and had no problem with having suds on my clothes

Great, thanks!

what about washers in deneve evergreen? front or top? Yes, front loaders use different detergent. they say HE on the label.

do we need quarters or can we swipe our card or something?

what about sunset village - canyon point

how does detergent affect the life of the washer? the motor that turns the drum doesnt even touch the detergent.

i dont recall the washers saying anything about HE detergent only. stop talking about things you dont know about.

Does Saxon use quarters or card?

What happens when you use regular detergent is too much suds, even though the water drains out at the end of the cycle, the suds still remain in the rear seal and then it slowly ruins the seal and causes it to leak right on to the bearing, then the bearing loses it's lubrication and makes the jet plane noise. Additional problems include leaking at the door, and poor washing.

does dykstra use quarters or bruin card?

Bruincard.

FYI, sproul uses quarters. and charges $1.25 for their washers. damn them.

Dykstra uses quarters. 1.25 too.

Deneve Plaza evergreen.....quarters or bruin card? please let it be bruincard!

There aren't signs by the washers about HE detergent, but this is indeed a special detergent for front-loaders. Tide makes front-loader stuff and the normal stuff for top-loaders.

I'm nervous to wash my clothes in the dykstra machine after looking at the gross build-up and powder residue in the detergent wells of the washer!

thats why you just dump it on top of your clothes.

Does anyone bother using liquid fabric softener when washing your clothes at UCLA?
