Law and Society

Not a lot of colleges and universities have Criminology/Criminal Justice/Law and Society as one of their majors. But I was so glad Purdue did! How good is Law and Society at Purdue? I did get admitted as a Law and Society major for Fall 2010. Are a lot of people in that major? I plan to double major in Law and Society and Psychology.

If you don’t like Psychology, I would recommend majoring in History also or at least minor in it. It’s always beneficial imho to major/minor in History if your majoring in Law & Society/Criminal Justice.

jake, mind me asking what sats you got in with? i applied into political science and got deferred :(

im sorry to hear that rasperryice
My highest scores were
Critical Reading: 720
Math:720
Writing:700

what about your GPA?

Nice! I got in as a history major, though I plan to attend law school afterwards, so I might switch majors into political science, or double major, still unsure yet.
Got in with a 2150 on Sat though, 650 CR, 770 Math, and 730 Writing

Are you doing Purdue’s Liberal Art’s honors program?

I am very concerned about purdue’s liberal arts program-

i have read accounts on student reviews that the program was lacking and didn’t prepare them for top graduate schools, although they were written a few years ago, and they were not in the honors program.

So i’m not sure, I’m kind of skeptical and uncertain about Purdue’s liberal art’s capacities.

Honestly, I’m really considering switching majors to pre-pharmacy now, although if someone can convince me that Purdue’s Liberal Arts program is good and I will get a great education there, I will stay.

Liberal Arts is known to being very easy compared to other colleges at Purdue.

However, I hope you do know that Pre-Pharmacy at Purdue is VERY tough, right? You have a lot of work ahead of you compared to Liberal Arts work.

Well there is the tradeoff. Do you want a high GPA so you can get into grad schools easier or do you want a challenging curriculum with a potentially lower GPA? I mean if you’re a good student, then it shouldn’t matter if the curriculum in LA isn’t that hard. It all depends on you imo.

How were the core classes that you took in the CLA? Also, how were the professors as well?

I mean, I would much rather be a lawyer than pharmacist, but would a CLA education at Purdue prepare me for the rigor of law school? Even if does help my chances of getting in, I don’t want to develop bad habits and get screwed later.

But then I guess, I could increase my workload by double majoring and such. I mean the liberal arts program can’t be bad right, just because it isn’t as hard as Purdue’s sciences?

<a href=“Purdue CCO”>https://www.cco.purdue.edu/common/PostGradSummaryMay08.pdf</a></p>

Well even though this was two years ago, it seems that a lot of kids in Liberal Arts go to graduate school. From Political Science/Law & Society, 1/3 of the students go to graduate school/law school. Maybe give the dean or a head professor in Law & Society a call? I’m pretty sure professors would make time for you if you got accepted to Purdue and are deciding whether or not you want to attend.

[Pre-Pharmacy Curriculum](http://www.pharmacy.purdue.edu/academics/prepharm/curriculum.php)

or

I’m not sure about you but I think Law & Society’s Plan of Study is way easier than Pre-Pharm. Getting into the actual Pharmacy program is quite tough I hear also. One of my friends is in Pre-Pharm. and he tells me it is A LOT of work, that was why he had to give up joining a fraternity.

current GPA: 4.11

Hey everyone! I was excepted into Purdue Law and Society for Fall 2010 too! I am extremely excited!!

Jakewhaat…what do you plan to do with the degree?? Just curious. Same question to everyone else!
