Law School Admissions and Coronavirus

I am a sophomore, and I posted before about losing my internship on Wall Street (wonder why), but I keep hearing that other kids still have theirs. I want to do international corporate/trade law, and the plan was to do this to show an interest in finance, and then do something international my junior year- but now I have no internship. Besides lacking in that department now, my Econ class (I am a business major) which is already notoriously hard is not going very well online, and I am going to have to take it pass-fail most likely. Realistically, even with an otherwise perfect GPA and good LSAT, am I doomed in terms of getting into a top law school?

With the exception of Yale and Stanford, ~90% of law school admissions is primarily two numbers: GPA+LSAT.

Many schools going online for classes and finals, with an option of grades or pass/no pass, will have some denotation or asterisk indecating a COVIT 19 quarter/semester. Law admissions should understand the stress students are going through.

A few days ago, I read an article about some biglaw firms postponing recruiting for summer associates since second term, first year grades would be pass / fail at many law schools. The law firms want to be able to see 2 semesters of grades other than pass / fail.

You’re not “doomed” but it’s important to keep in mind that these are particularly turbulent times. Just a quick look at LSAC https://www.lsac.org/update-coronavirus-and-lsat and you can see that the virus has had a major effect on current and aspiring applicants.

You can’t control any of that; all you can do is what works for you, and keep moving forward to your goal. And keep yourself apprised about what’s going on in the world of legal education and specifically application to law school. There have been a lot of changes the past few weeks, and there may be many more.

That link is AMAZING and helped so much. Thank you so much!!
