I'm told that johns hopkins university has 98% of students who apply to law school get into at least one, which sounds good... but how is it to get into a top law school from johns hopkins? Can't find any tables or data anywhere for that. Thanks.

Well I was just thinking about something. Johns Hopkins has refused to certify individuals for med school if the insitution does not feel they will gain admittance; hence, JHU boasts a 95% medical school acceptance rate.

I am not sure, but I believe it likely the same practice extends to law school.

yeah, that's not good but I plan to be a good candidate in the first place so that shouldn't be a problem (hopefully). Any stats on if JHU students who bother to apply get into top law schools or not?

I do not have any particular stats. However, I can surmise that given the caliber of JHU students, they gain admittance to top law schools. Also, JHU has an excellent political science program---a common major among prospective law students.

Check some of the top law schools. They tend to tell what undegraduate school their law students attended and also the number from that particular institution.

Thanks for the info.

The difficulty is that, since the majority of JHU grads going to grad school go to medical school, JHU doesn't have the "numbers" going to law school. That's why I want to see, percentage-wise, how JHU students applying to top law schools fare.

For example, U of Penn might send (and these numbers are really random) 100 students to law school each year. 30 of them might get into top law schools. At Johns Hopkins, maybe only 5 will get into top law schools (which won't be enough to show up as a "feeder" school on most lists), but maybe only 20 applied. In that case, the ratio / percentage is similar, even though the numbers are less.

Sorry if I got confusing, heh.

And by the way, whether or not I end up going to law school, I'm thinking about double-majoring in Writing seminars and Political science (not International Relations, even though that's much more popular at JHU).

This table is for students currently enrolled at Harvard Law School:
http://www.law.harvard.edu/admissions/jd/colleges.php

JHU only has 4 students currently enrolled (an average of 1.33 students per year matriculating). That is a relatively low number compared to its peer institutions.

Of course, since the vast majority go on to medical school over law. That's why I need data which shows how many apply to law school, too :)
