Law School students strive for BigLaw, but what about Business School students?

Aside from Wall Street, where else to people graduating from business school strive to work?

If by Wall Street, you mean the bulge-bracket investment banks, that’s actually somewhat passe. The real gunners these days usually want to work for VC/PE or hedge funds. Ibanking is now seen as something you do if you simply weren’t good enough to get one of those other jobs.

What are some of those companies?

Bain Capital, Carlyle, KKR, Kleiner Perkins, Blackstone, Sequoia Capital, Matrix Partners, New Enterprise Associates, to name just a few

I don’t know, VC is pretty dead now.

What makes you say that?

It’s scaled down because of the cycle (few IPOs/exits), but how is it “dead”?

Returns have been low for years. Not too many investors interested in new funds. The model will have to change which will mean less money for the VCs.
