I'm considering law school, but I'm not sure if I will be able to make it.

I've gone through a tremendous amount of health problems during my 1st year of college, and this brought my GPA down to a 2.6 or so. This is not indicative of my intelligence or my capability to do well in an academic setting...but I feel that I have lost out due to my health and life just getting in the way.

Also, I don't even know what to major in anymore,...trying for economics or business or something, but i don't even know if that is possible at this point.

now, my question is...am i really screwed at the moment? what should i do to get back on my feet (besides working hard and studying, which are obvious answers.)

Yeah, haas deadlines were a while ago…i missed it, but i couldn’t have applied anyway since i was missing a prerequisite. I think i’m going to do economics and declare next semester or something, since most of my prereqs are done.

but what else should i do to better my ‘game’? since i’m already at a disadvantage due to health problems.

Just get healthy, my friend. My Dad went to Haas and he swears by Cal Berkeley. I was born in the USA because my parents were both at UC. If you get your GPA up you should be able to get into law school no problem. I mean it is UC, after all, so you’ll be at a competitive advantage to other people with slightly higher GPA from a lower prestige school.

for law school, it’s all about gpa+lsat. Get healthy and find an ‘easy’ major that you enjoy. (Pretty much anything with ‘studies’ in it will do.)

i think i will stick with economics. it is practical, and on the offchance i don’t get into law, i can still get a decent job with econ. if i major in something with studies, it isn’t very useful nor sought after in this market…lol…no offense to anyone.plus since my gpa is laready very low, it might be difficult to get in, even if i switch to a studies major.

why do you want to go to law school? getting in law school isn’t hard, even with an ultra low GPA. which law school you get in to is the question. With students at t14 schools having trouble finding a job post graduation, law is becoming an increasingly useless degree.
