Can someone confirm or clarify whether, in the Lawrence supp app for incoming Freshman, there is a question 'why lawrence?'. I cd not seem to find one.

I notice that they do ask ‘what prompted you to apply?’ but they only give one line on the page. It does not say ‘write and essay stating what prompted you to apply to Lawrence.’

Can we assume that one can write more than the one line and not be considered wordy? WHat has other Lawrence applicants done?

How did Lawrence come to your attention?
What prompted you to apply?
To what other colleges do you intend to apply?

Why not use a cover letter to your application answering the why question.

There isn’t a “why Lawrence?” question. The supplement is to just ask a few questions that are not reflected in the Common Application.

The common app does not have a ‘why college x’ question - I think. As a result, I see such a question on colleges’ supplement. Since this does not appear on Lawrence’s supp app, I guess we can assume that Lawrence does not think it important enough to wax on this question, letting a simple one line sentence suffice.

Does anyone know from experience or (un)expert supposition whether it’s okay to somehow say “why Lawrence”? Because I WANT to tell them why…arg. Any ideas?
