We're in the early stages of looking at schools for youngest S. From everything I read, the temperament of Lawrence sounds like it might suit him well. However, I'm a little worried about how non-music kids fit in. Do they have as good of an academic experience as Con students?

Son's interests lie more in the areas of math and science.

Any insight into this would be much appreciated! Also what percentage of students are NOT involved in music at all?

I see no answers here. I learned to ask these kind of questions of admissions.

My daughter happens to be someone doing music extracurricularly at LU - she is not a con person. She knows others, her roommate eg, who do not do the con and they seem like they fit in.

I saw a listing of the top UG producers of PHds in physics and i saw LU as number 10. D’s roomie is in biology and seems to like LU alot and has done good research and presentations at other universities. After seeing a fantastic concert of the LSO, I am surprised how many studens I see doing other stuff on campus. I am usually so impressed with the LSO’s performance that I wondered why all the other students on campus were not at Memorial Hall - answer - they do other things , and not just play or even watch , music, I guess.

The con has something like 300-400 students maybe , so 25-33 pct of the students are in the con, I think. but don’t quote me. in other words, most of the students are not doing music in the con.
