Hey, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the different circle and crescent houses and their reputations?

Even after all these years, I can still name the Circle Houses instantly: Cleve (mine!), Kennedy, Woodhull, Griswold, Hamill, Dickinson. The problem with naming the five Crescent Houses is that they weren’t there when I was a student (which means there were only boys at the time). But two of them are named for men I knew: McClellan (name for Bruce McClellan, headmaster while I was there) and Stephens (named for Wade Stephens, Dean of Faculty while I was there and whom I knew fairly well). As to reputations, students are generally distributed fairly well amongst them so any reputation is subject to change from year to year.

Wow, you must have graduated a long time ago. lol Thank-you for your info.

Thanks for making me feel so old. :(

Girls were first allowed to attend Lawrenceville in 1987. Considering that my sons are currently in 8th and 5th grade, I don’t think it’s that surprising that I graduated before then. When did your parents graduate from high school?

Oh I’m sorry, that wasn’t my intention. I didn’t know they went co-ed that short time ago, I thought it was a much longer time ago. I think they graduated in the late '70s.

Don’t worry about it. I was mostly teasing. When I was a student there, my favorite teachers seemed ancient. Turns out they weren’t even 30 at the time. When you’re a teenager, anybody over 25 is supposed to seem old.

Circle -
Kennedy, Hamill, Dickinson, Woodhull, Griswold, and Cleve

Crescent -
McClellan, Stanley, Stephens, Kirby, and Carter (new for 2010-2011!)

I’m not sure about their reputations either.

When my son applied to BS’s last year (including L’ville), the thing that he loved the most about L’ville was its amazing house system with their flags, games, history, etc. More BS’s should adopt this great system. (My son now attends Hotchkiss and, yes, he has designed a flag for his dorm. Now, if only get the dorm to adopt it…)

How about the Crescent Houses, you know, for girls? Anyone know anything about them?
