LAX to UCLA

Is there a bus or some sort of transportation service at the airport.

How much does it cost?

"Transportation options between Los Angeles International Airport and UCLA include travelling by Super-Shuttle, taxi, or bus."

http://www.orientation.ucla.edu/stud_faq.html#getting

http://www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/lax.htm

Yes, there's quite a few... The Big Blue Bus between LAX and UCLA (and vice versa) costed $0.75. The Prime Time Shuttle van between LAX and UCLA (and vice versa) costed $13.50 + tip. Never tried riding a taxi, though.

Will the Big Blue Bus be at the airport like regularly at specific times? Or do we have to call or make a reservation of some sort?

supershuttle is about $22 shared ride
taxi is slightly less than $40 (on a not bad traffic day)

i've tried both haha

Yes, the Big Blue Bus makes stops at LAX/UCLA on a regular basis.
http://www.bigbluebus.com/busroutes/schedule.asp?bus_route=3&dayofweek=weekdays

it takes 1 hour?

Yes. But for $0.75 you get what you pay for.

so what's the recommendation?...big blue or shuttle? worth the money?

bump worth the money? safe method of transport?

big blue! unless you're pressed for time...it would take you at least 1/2 hr if you took a taxi or shuttle anyway. that's the worst stretch of the 405 in all the land. just keep a close eye on your surroundings and belongings, and try not to make eye contact. and sit as close to the bus driver as possible. i'm making it sound like a dreadful experience, but it really isn't...just prepping ya.

sidenote: my roommate took a supershuttle to LAX from westwood- 22 bucks! i told her about the big blue, and she couldn't believe it. of course, this was minutes before the supershuttle arrived.

im just gonna have one or two large suitcases with me, as well as a laptop case and hand luggage - if i was a mugger, i would be interested straight away. ucla is the last stop as well, is that right?

im not getting overly worried just because its LA, its more of a general security thing.thanks for the prompt reply btw!

no problem..i'm actually not sure, but i'm sure the bigbluebus webpage has all the info you can possibly want. i'm not sure if it's a good thing, but your screen name reminded me of that awful fergie song. :/

Just a note: if you're planning on taking the Big Blue bus (or the Culver City Bus, which I always take) from LAX, you have to take the "C" shuttle to the Transit center... letting you know because that confused me the first time I tried.

I would fully recommend the bus if you're travelling light (1 suitcase + hand bags) but since I'll be arriving with 3 suitcases, I'm probably going to take the supershuttle. The Big Blue and the Culver City both stop by Ackerman union, and dragging many bags up the hill to the dorms is KILLER.

i took a shuttle during orientation...wasn't bad

...then again, half the ppl in the car were orientation students anyhow :D

yeah i think the shuttle seems the better option if i have all my stuff, thanks for all the prompt help. and just for the record, the bridge in the fergie video is actually tower bridge, not london bridge (would have thought they would check that one out, but london bridge is a pretty average lookin thing, unlike fergie omg she is fine). cool people, see you soon lol

oh really, i just thought london bridge was a metaphor for fergie's...well, fergie's something. i didn't know it was a physical landmark. other than fergie's...never mind.

UG.

HATE.

/^That was in all caps, FYI. I know the stupid filter will censor out my Caps rage, but believe me. It was there. Because any talk of Fergie merits lots and lots of angry caps.

OMG why did it let me keep the caps this time? It usually censors.

Cool well then disregard that last note there. I'm glad the Fergie rage was adequately expressed.

Haha, allie you and your rage totally crack me up!
