I'm assuming this is about a 30-minute drive (to UCLA's De Neve Foyer Auditorium). How much would it be if I took a taxi?

my guess is about $40-50.

dont like shuttles?

a lot of money. Ucla is about 30-40 mins away depending on how heavy the 405 is. A cheaper option would be taking the bus...or maybe u can sneak into one of those shuttles for a hotel near the school ;)

No, actually, I'm cool with shuttles, but there are two things...

1.) Doesn't it go by the person? So if it was $30, two people would be $60, which would be over the cost of the shuttle, right?

2.) Doesn't the shuttle wait until there are at least, say, ten people before it departs? I can't afford to wait, time is another factor for me as well.

I suggest you take the Super Shuttle for $17.00. My D always takes SS (to & from UCLA) whenever she comes home. Very convenient and they pick u up 2 hours before your flight. They have the housing location in their computer. Going back to LAX, she said sometimes it is bus load of UCLA students. Over all no hassle.

it costs about 40 bucks by taxi

if you're on a budget and don't have time constraints, try the bus. the culver city bus starts at ackerman and ends at the LAX transit center where you can take a free shuttle to the terminals. it takes about an hour, and best of all, is only a quarter for bruins (75 cents otherwise).

supershuttle is my preferred way to get to LAX and back. when you're going back to campus all you do is go outside the terminal to the super shuttle area, hop on one, and depending on your travel day (like, end of spring break) it'll be going to UCLA dorms for everyone. and it's only $15 plus tip per person, not $30 (non-student rate is $22? $24?)
depending how fast it fills up, it's actually faster than a taxi, i think... cuz they drive pretty darn crazy :rolleyes:
the only difference is that a taxi would leave immediately, and the shuttle can take a bit longer. but not too much. and it's gonna be cheaper, unless yo happen to find other people to share the cab with, and then it might come out about even xD

The lowdown:

Bus = $0.75, 60-90 minutes
Airport shuttle = $15-$20 + tip, 30-60 minutes
Taxi = $30-$45 + tip, 30 minutes

PrimeTime Shuttle, $14/each way. You can reserve online.
