LAX to UCLA?

Does anyone know what's the best way to get to UCLA from LAX sometime around 5-6PM? I'm probably not going by taxi or car, and it's my first time without it in LA, can someone help? Thanks!

Check your UCLA orientation website.
By Super Shuttle
The Super Shuttle runs 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. There is a courtesy phone located in every baggage area at LAX. It usually takes 15 minutes or less for the Shuttle to pick you up.

FROM UCLA to LAX: Call the Shuttle at least one day before your flight. The Shuttle will pick you up two hours before your flight leaves. Students can sign up at the Orientation Program office for a Super Shuttle back to the airport.

Phone: (310) 782-6600 or (800) 258-3826

Cost: Approximately $15.00 per person ($66.00 for a full 7 passenger van)

Oh alright thanks!

Just to let you know, there is also the [FlyAway bus](LAX Official Site | Traffic and Ground Transportation - FlyAway Bus) which takes you from LAX to a stop in Westwood quickly for $5. But I guess if you have a lot of luggage it might be inconvenient to drag it from the stop all the way up to wherever you are going.

The SuperShuttle / Prime Time Shuttle / other shared ride van services might be easier in your case. They usually cost more than $20, but bring you directly to your place (although I’m not sure they would know how to get to a dorm or something).

Both FlyAway and the shared-ride vans stop at every terminal. All you have to do is go outside and look for the “FlyAway bus” or the “shared ride vans” sign.

Flyaway is MUCH cheaper ($5 currently) and usually arrives faster (since you don’t have to wait for all the stops like you do with the shuttles). With that said however, it’s definitely a walk up to the dorms from Kinross Ave where the bus stop is located. I typically have friends pick me up from Flyaway, but since it’s your first time you’ll be walking (use streetview and google maps to orient yourself on the walk to the dorms).

@ spoon! or anyone else who can answer: which level does the flyaway bus stop on? I’m not familiar with the layout of LAX and I’m wondering if I just exit the terminal from my arrival level and would be able to easily spot the flyaway terminal bus stop.

That’s the worst time to go. The traffic on the 405 freeway is horrific.

I would say flyaway would stop on the lower level (arrivals) while the upper level is departures…

Regarding Fly Away…when leaving from UCLA going to LAX can you park your car in that lot? Last year my D didn’t have her car at school and took the super shuttle most of the time. This year she will have her car at an apt. up on Gayley (near De Neve dorms). She’d wants to know if she can drive her car to the Fly Away lot on Kinross and leave it there for a weekend occasionally.

first of all i don’t think it would be free parking there (funny thought of free parking at LA) but kinross isn’t that far away so your daughter is better off walking or having someone dropping her off while leaving the car at the apts

So you can sign up for the shuttle during orientation? We don’t have to arrange it ahead of time? Will there be room no matter what? I tried the website for the shuttle before and after I had finished picking all of my choices… it tells me that it’s not working for that certain area or something…
