Lazing away spring break and not doing HW?

So it's almost the end of break (classes start up again on Monday) and I'm at my house and I've gotten nothing done

Bad thing is I'm also addicted to a TV series that I have around 6 hours left to finish so it looks like I wont be very productive now either haha..

Is it typical..? Will professors ease into college stuff again after spring break?
Also, WHAT WAS/IS YOUR SPRING BREAK LIKE? :)

I had planned to get so much done but all I did was eat a lot (likely gained 5 lbs) and watch TV shows nonstop..

Things I had planned to do:
-Programming - read 4 chapters and review and practice commands
-Math - read 5 chapters, and 1 HW assignment (HW is worth 30% of your grade)
- Physics - read 4 large chapters intensively (I'm really really behind), study/understand concepts and do practice problems.... I also found out our prof is giving a 2 day midterm beginning on the Thursday of the first week we're back. He is merciless. :'(
-Foreign Language - study since I haven't spoken it in weeks and my grammar is deteriorating
-Music - actually play my instrument for once, relearn scales, and prepare a second piece for the jury exam in May..

What would you focus on or do if you had this HW over break?

Planned to do some job/internship applications and catch up on some textbook reading I’m behind on. Ended up playing video games all week. I gained some weight too…

Unless you are good at procrastinating and can learn all of this stuff easily, good luck to ya  Uhmm, it really depends on how strict your teachers are and if any of your classmates did the work. Not really sure what I use to do on my spring breaks. Played on the computer a lot and watched tv. Not sure I ever had hw to do on spring break.

I definitely went in with the intention of being productive! Do my Bio lab report( well, Excel does most of the heavy lifting, but still), read 2 Cortez chapters of organic chemistry and read some stuff for history and finish my urban studies research paper.
What did I do? Sleep, lounge around, watch TV and sleep some more. Seriously, my ochem book has me out like a light after the first page.

I’m probably gonna sleep, be bored out of my mind, keep searching for internships, do errands at my mom’s and pick my sister up from school. Woo!

Spring break doesn’t begin at my campus until week after next. Final exams are next week.

Huge benefit of the quarter system: spring break is a real break with no homework left to complete for that quarter. It’s quite relaxing :)

Some profs are quite strict about assignments. If something is worth 30% of your grade, get it done now. That sounds to me like a not so lenient prof… but I could be wrong. Think about policies from the syllabus. If there was a “no late papers, no exceptions” kind of statement, then you likely have a strict prof. I wouldn’t take any chances with something worth that much, that’s for sure. That said, the semester system is naturally more lenient just based on time than the quarter system. There is no room for delays in a quarter so I’m used to operating in that mindset and I just assume all deadlines are final ;)

I haven’t been studying as hardcore as I planned. I’ve so far gotten almost caught up on my reading for chemistry and printed off the study materials for my engineering exam. And I’ve gone shopping, bike riding, spent time with family, baked, and ate of course. Today, I’m going on a road trip to an outlet mall with one of my school friends. And tomorrow, I’m planning on being hella productive, but we’ll see how that goes.

lol productivity

man I’m already sick of spring break and I just got off yesterday. I wanted to do something cool like go to New Orleans but the plane tickets are outrageously expensive as are the hotel rates. Nobody to go with either.

Before break, I had the chance to go skiing, but passed on it because it cost money, and I wanted to get things done over break. Now, I could have gone on that trip twice, and I still got nothing done. I should have done SOMETHING!!

I have a bad feeling that when school starts back up again, I’m going to get screwed over.

Nice weather though…:)

Cheers for procrastination! :D

I finished watching the TV series in a 6 hour marathon today, so perhaps tomorrow I will do something…perhaps…

Maybe it’s normal not to do any school stuff over break? Or maybe the students who will excel are too busy actually doing school stuff to be on this forum?

But yeah, there is definitely an impending feeling of doom that’s been growing, that I will be screwed when classes start again and probably stay up late a lot this week

I’m on spring break right now, and I was sort of productive over the weekend (finalized a Spanish composition, did a solid chunk of my bio lab report, read chemistry) but then I got lazy during the week. It’s been pretty nice and relaxing though - slept in a lot, caught up on Family Guy, ate some good home-cooked food, watched a movie with my Dad, played some basketball, etc. The only thing that sucks is that most of my friends are in the UC system so they all have a different spring break, so there wasn’t anyone to hang out with, but it was still fun relaxing at home.

Dude…we’re living the same life.
I had had the samee plans to do mad HW and catch up in Physics but that of course, hasn’t happened lol.

I’m also addicted to a TV show I just started watching online last week and am already on season 3. SMH. I’m never productive ever, on my breaks so I shouldn’t have had such high hopes but still. Tomorrow, I guess I’ll bang out that paper that has a lenient deadline but should have been handed in before break and maybe read some physics…

“Maybe it’s normal not to do any school stuff over break?”

bingo, except on CC

^Definitely. I stayed up all night watching The Last Samuri and said I’d do work when it was over. And did I? Hell. No.

thanks guys. You make me feel so much better about myself.

By being equally lazy?

You’re welcome!

Obviously you guys are not Engineering majors.

If you snooze you lose and in a big way.

I’m engineering, and I’ve had my share of misery. But with spring break and longer days, I think I’ll be just fine.

I’m wasting most of my spring break too. I spent a bit of time studying and reading ahead, but not enough to really justify the amount of time I spent on video games and facebook.

Friend of mine is a senior aerospace engy and he’s spending most of spring break in Vegas.
