I was looking at data sets for JHU and there was a statistic: GPA less than 2.8: 2% and some other statistics showed low ACT/SAT scores that people got. Is this true? If yes, then I'm starting to think that grades and standardized scores dont play a large part (j/k)...idn maybe these students fit the Hopkins 'image'

You do realize that Hopkins looks at more than just GPA and standardized test scores, yes? There are also athletes, legacies, etc. who get admitted for whatever reason. You'll probably see similar stuff at other schools. Statistics are just statistics.

Where did you find that data anyway?

Ur probably right....

I found them at:

petersons.com
and
collegeboard.com

they both have college searches that show these stats

As I have said time and time again, we review the full application of each and every applicant to Hopkins and do not allow statistics determine a final decision. For each of the students who make up the 2% you are asking about there are a myriad of reasons why those students were offered admission.

When ever I speak with a student who is asking about in-depth admissions statistics, I always provide the advice to be more concerned about your essays, and the rest of your application.

buddy, u ever hear of legacy kids, minority kids, development admits (trust me, and this is one category that mr. admissions daneil will not probably ever want to comment on, but it exists for sure at every major private school.
