im literally a lazy asian and i was wondering if i had to take ap calculas
i will major in business and ive taken pre calc in 10th grade and i was suppose
to take it in my junior year but i decided not to cause i hate math
but when colleges see that ive not taken ap calculas, will that affect my
admission? cause it might look like im taking the easy way
and my im applying to Umich, UT Austin, UIUC, Rutgers
so will it matter???

Hello,

As I read your post the first thing that came to mind was that, yes, it will appear that you are taking the easy way out. You took precalculus in 10th grade. That would point to the fact that you have aptitude in the area of math. At least here in Florida the sequence for the “average” math kid would be 9th grade- algebra I, 10th- geometry, 11th- algebra II, and 12th is pre-cal.

Just because you don’t like it doesn’t excuse you from having to do it. Sorry- that’s just life. You will regret it later if you don’t make the most of your education.

Good luck!

What grade did you make in Precalc?
If you made an A or B then you need to take AP Calc because have demonstrated you can do the work.
If you made a C or lower then take regular Calc because you need to protect your gpa.
Slacking off in junior year does not bode well for you.
Junior year is when you should be stepping it up to get into colleges you listed.

um i guess so but ive taken some aps
like i took ap com sci in my junior year-which was realy tough
and im taking ap econ, pysch, enviromental science next year…
would i really require ap calc? cause i can take that course in college
and im not striving for ivy league schools so wouldnt it be ok?

um i took some relatively easier courses in my junior year like
pyschology
economics
english 11
ap com sci-(hard)’
business math advanced

and i got above Bs in my quarter grade but got Cs on my semester exams for pre calc
but if i took ap calc im pretty sure my gpa will go down n our school doesnt
seperate ap calc and normal calc

Good luck.
Hopefully, you will reevaluate your self professed laziness.
It must drive your parents crazy.

kk it does but i actually dont know what i want to major in…but business seems to be the option since my parents kinda want me to be in but im free to choose what i want… i probably will apply to all these colleges undecided but i guess i should take ap calc …ha
